Unit 11  Background Information

Background Information – Solid, Liquid, Gas

In God’s world, everything is made of matter. The forms of matter are solids, liquids and gases. When matter changes its form, it is called changing its “state.” Changes in temperature are usually what cause some matter to change its “state.”  Most liquids change their “state” and shape easily.  Most solid things do not change easily and it is hard for something to pass through them, because they are solid. Most gases are invisible; however, sometimes we can smell gases, such as with natural gas. If we smell gas, that could be potentially dangerous. Or, sometimes you can feel them, like the wind in your hair. Gases also change shape easily, and solid matter does go through them easily.
