In this tutorial video, Chrissy Sykes, author of the My Body is My Body program, covers the objective of the final song in her series called, “Love is Gentle.” She discusses the importance of teaching children that love is about caring, sharing and trust. This song provides a picture of what love looks like to help children recognize that if someone is hurting them or trying to touch their private parts, those actions are not loving and should never be done to a child. Chrissy invites parents, caregivers and others who work with children to introduce this song in a positive way. She gives an example of one activity that can provide great insight into what children’s lives are like at home, whether they feel safe and if someone pays attention to them. Most importantly, it opens the lines of communication, so children know they have someone to talk to if they have a problem. Since this is the last song in the My Body is My Body series, Chrissy provides a review of the lessons from the previous songs. She also encourages those presenting the program to lead children in the first song (My Body is My Body) one last time to end on a positive note.
