Supplemental Curriculum - Unit 12 - I Can Learn: Early Social Studies Foundations

The “Supplemental Curriculum Unit 12- I Can Learn: Early Social Studies Foundations,” helps children begin to understand how people are related by location and the connections between people and resources. The curriculum consists of two topics, “Beyond my Community: The World Out There” and “Economics and History- People Connect with Each Other”, with six learning center activities for each topic. The 3-5 Supplemental Curriculum is based upon a learning center methodology and this curriculum offers specific directions and tools for how to utilize the learning centers as an extension of the learning experiences. This methodology provides age appropriate holistic child development opportunities for caregivers and children to be actively involved in learning together.
