The lesson “Building a Compost Pile” further teaches children about composting in the garden by providing the opportunity to build a compost bed. The children will understand how the bed ingredients, surface area, oxygen, moisture, and temperature all help to create the compost. The lesson includes guided instructions for the teacher, including preparation, a script, and suggested activities to facilitate further learning in a fun and interactive manner. This lesson is designed for children between 9-11 years, and is the 22nd lesson (Part B) in the 1st Year “Gardening” unit.
